The Borgias Television Series

The Borgias is a television series which became famous this year 2011. This historical fiction TV series was made through the brilliance of infamous Neil Jordan. The series goes around through the story of Borgia Family that of Spanish origin from an Italian dynasty. The location of the story was Hungry but originated from three countries such as Canada, Hungary and Ireland.

The Borgias has premiered in the United States on April 3, 2011 through ET on Showtime. In Canada it started through Bravo!; and CTV Television Network on June 21, 2011; then later on in the United Kingdom through Sky Atlantic.

The music themeof the Borgias that made the story more exciting was created by Trevor Morris. The Producers and Executive producers were composed by Neil Jordan and Michael Hirst, Jack Rapke, Darryl Frank, John Weber, Sheila Hockin, James Flynn. The Borgias is being starred by caliber artists, they are: Jeremy Irons, François Arnaud, Holliday Grainger, Joanne Whalley, Lotte Verbeek, David Oakes, Sean Harris, Simon McBurney, Steven Berkoff, Aidan Alexander, Colm Feore.

Here are the primary casts of The Borgias:

• Rodrigo Borgia/Pope Alexander VI = the role is being played by Jeremy Irons. He is a devoted head of family of Borgia. Clever and devious, he always exercises his position to achieve influence and power. Although he is a Clergy, he loves and enjoys beautiful women.
• Cesare Borgia = the role is being played by François Arnaud. He is the son of Rodrigo and they are the consigliere in the church. Cesare wants to leave priesthood and rather fights to the clergy. In order to eliminate romance rivalry and help his family he became violent and murderous attitude. He has a violent streak, killing anyone to help the family's cause or eliminate romantic rivals. Cesare’s weakness is his attachment and loyalty to his sister Lucrezia.
• Lucrezia Borgia = the role is played by Holliday Grainger. She is the daughter of Rodrigo her father's favorite. She has been too close to her brother Cesare and they were rumored to have incestuous relationship. Lucrizia has grown up into wise and beautiful young lady. Her wit and charm has been her strong weapon in helping her beloved father being ousted. She was engaged a young age to Giovanni Sforz and the coldness of their relationship end up to unhappy marriage.
• Vannozza dei Cattanei = the role is being played by Joanne Whalley. She is the aging matriach of the pope’s children. Vannozza’s position as a courtesan and mother is jeopardized by the powers of Borgias and the new mistress of the pope.
• Giulia Farnese = the role is being played by Lotte Verbeek. Guilia is the beautiful mistress of the pope. She not only pretty faced but also wise, independent and strategic. Because of these qualities, she was able to gain the trust of the Pope. She has also become befriend to Lucriza and act as her mentor.
• Juan Borgia = the role is being played by David Oakes. He is also the son of Rodrigo Borgia. He also serves as the Gonfalonier of the Papal Armies. He is incompetent and coward but trying to conceal through his arrogant attitude and reckless behavior.
• Michelotto Corella = the role is being played by Sean Harris. Michelotto serves as the condottiero of Cesare Borgia. In order to keep the power of the Borgia family, he executed cruelty and brutal killing through the commands of Cesare Borgia.
• Joffre Borgia = the role is played by Aidan Alexander. He is the teenage and youngest son of Pope Alexander. In order for the pope to have a secured alliance with the kingdom and to strengthen his position, he let Joffre marry Sancia of Naples.
• Giuliano della Rovere = the role is being played by Colm Feore. Guilliano is the cardinal of the church. Although he is a powerful cardinal but lose to Rodrigo Borgia in the papal election. He believed that the new elected pope is rude and blasphemous, he devoted much of his time in ousting Rodrigo Borgia from his position.

Here are the Support Cast of the Borgias:

• Giovanni Sforza = the role is being played Ronan Vibert. He is the Lord of Pesaro and the cold-brutal husband of Lucrezia who was picked by Rodrigo in order to gain support from Sforza family. He repeatedly raped Lucrezia before they got married. Because of his untoward attitude, Lucrezia made a plot which broke the leg of Giovanni when he fell off his riding horse. During the impending French invasion, he withdrawn support and betrayed his alliance with the Borgia family. His marriage with Lucrezia was annulled because of impotence and he also received humiliation from the Borgias because of what he did.
• Girolamo Savonarola = the role is being played by Steven Berkoff. Girolamo is a very influential priest in Florence. He battled corruption through preaching.
• Johannes Burchard = the role is being played by Simon McBurney. Johannes is the adviser of Pope Alexander because he is a scholar and expert on the canon law.
• Alfonso II of Naples = the role is being played by Augustus Prew. The eldest son of King Ferdinand I and the next effective ruler in the throne own of Naples.
• Cardinal Orsini = the role is being played by Derek Jacobi. He is a fictional character and one of the cardinals who schemed against Pope Alexander. Cesare Borgia ordered of poisoning him to death.
• Ursula Bonadeo/Sister Martha = the role is being played by Ruta Gedmintas. Although Ursula is a noblewoman, she had a passionate extra-marital affair with Cesare Borgia. However, she back off from the relationship when Cesare Borgia killed her husband. She entered the vocation of nunhood and named Sister Martha.
• Prince Cem (Jem) = the role is being played by Elyes Gabel. He was expelled by his brother Sultan because of the rivalry on the Ottoman throne. Sultan offered Pope Alexander to host Cem for financial reward. He accepted it and killed Cem.
• Maria = the role is being played by Montserrat Lombard. Maria is the maid in the Orsini Palace during Giulia Farnese's stay in the palace. She testifies for the pope for a pay.
• Sancia = the role is being played by Emmanuelle Chriqui. Sancia is the beautiful but illegitimate daughter of the King of Naples. She was married to Joffre Borgia because Juan refused to marry him because of her illegitimacy. However, because of beauty captivated Juan they have an affair later.
• Cardinal Julius Versucci = a fictional character played by Vernon Dobtcheff.
• Cardinal Piccolomini = the role is being played by Bosco Hogan.
• Paolo = the role is being played by Luke Pasqualino. Paolo is the young servant of Giovanni Sforza. He has an affair and a child with Lucrezia. He was the one who plotted against Giovanni that broke his legs which helped Lucrezia escaped from the custody of Sforza.
• Caterina Sforza = the role is being played by Gina Mckee. Caterina is the cousin of Giovanni Sforza, an infamous military leader. She is also against pope Alexander and did not support him on the impending invasion by the French.
• Ascanio Sforza = the role is being played by Peter Sullivan. Ascanio is a powerful cardinal who becomes chancellor and helped Rodrigo Borgia elected to be Pope Alexander. He was also the powerful person in the arrangement of the marriage of Lucrezia Borgia and Giovanni Sforza.
• Niccolò Machiavelli = the role is being played by Julian Bleach. Niccolo has collaborated with Cesare Borgia and Cardinal Della Rovere being a senior official Florence Republic.
• Ludovico Sforza = the role is being played by Ivan Kaye. Ludovico is the brutish Duke of Milan.
• King Charles VIII = the role is being played by Michel Muller. He is the King of France and commander Europe’s most feared and powerful armies.
• The French Ambassador to Rome = the role is being played by David Lowe.
